When the Rains Come Down

When the Rains Come Down

Words and music by Steve Grace

I see my country broken, Deperate for the rain
Crying for redemption to see the seasons change
Where are the storm clouds that will bring new hope of life
To the barren ground, the ancient lands, praying it will work out right

I see ordinary people who sacrificed their time
Volunteered to travel, put their money on the line
Showed us country people that there's still some folks out there
Who believe to be Australian means you give because you care

When the rains come down and the rivers rise again
When the drought times end and the real hard work begins
Strangers from down south they came to lend a helping hand
We will remember them

When the rains come down
When the rains come down again
When the rains come down
We will remember them

Been through those times before, the heartache and the doubt
Depressing isolation where you learn to go without
No clouds on the horizon, in debt with no way out
But thank God for those strangers who helped us through the drought

When the rains come down and the rivers rise again
When the drought times end and the real hard work begins
Strangers from down south they came to lend a helping hand
We will remember them

When the rains come down
When the rains come down again
When the rains come down
We will remember them
