It was a great honour to be part of the Goldfields Celebration in Kalgoorlie. As I review some of the pictures from the past weekend I cannot help but feel we were making history in a region that has a reputation for sin and selfish behaviour. Kalgoorlie was a town with a wild past and like many other mining towns around the world, a town where a conviction for God was replaced by a craving for gold. The town is famous for the mine called the Super Pit. Every year 15 million tonnes of earth is mined in the region producing 28 tonnes of gold and other valuable minerals like nickel.
But this past weekend was worth much more than gold… It was about eternity. Over 6,000 people attended the events at Centennial Park and 552 people made decisions to follow Jesus Christ. The mayor of the city declared it a milestone event in the life of Kalgoorlie-Boulder.
Please pray for the people who made decisions to live for the Lord. Pray for the follow up ministry that will take place in the coming months and for the local churches as they disciple new believers.
This was an historic event to be part of and we thank the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association and the local churches in the region.
Thanks for your prayers and support.
