THE LUCKY ONES
“Do not let your hearts be troubled. You believe in God; believe also in me. My Father’s house has many rooms; if that were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am. John 14:1-3
These beds with mosquito nets are in an open sided garage at the home of Jiwa and Rosa in the very troubled side of town. It is the boys accommodation area for the lucky ones who have been taken in. Hundreds of homeless children turn up three afternoon’s each week for a very basic meal. Aunty Rosa and Uncle Jiwa have spent themselves in reaching out to unfortunate children who literally have nowhere else to go.
The growing death rate from HIV AIDS and substance abuse in PNG means there will be many more children left to fight for survival on the streets. Many will turn to a life of crime and violence simply to exist in a nation where the government has no policy in place to help the widow and orphan. We can become critical and accuse the politicians and government… or we can ask the Lord what He requires of us. I am praying at the moment and seeking the Lord for His wisdom because I would love to see a long term solution initiated for the orphans of this nation I love.
You and I have been rescued by God’s grace through Jesus. We are in many ways orphaned by the curse of sin. Yet He has made a way for us to be welcomed into the eternal family of God’s kingdom.
We are either the lucky ones… or simply the blessed ones. We have been given the privilege of hearing the good news. Let us live by what we have heard and do what we can.
And they brought young children to him, that he should touch them: and his disciples rebuked those that brought them. But when Jesus saw it, he was much displeased, and said unto them, Suffer the little children to come unto me, and forbid them not: for of such is the kingdom of God. Verily I say unto you, Whosoever shall not receive the kingdom of God as a little child, he shall not enter therein. Mark 10: 13-15
Pray with us as we seek to help orphaned and abandoned children in PNG. We believe this is a significant part of our ministry to this nation.
