Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good. His love endures forever. Psalm 136:1
I was reminded again this week just how good and faithful the Lord is… that His love really does endure forever. Despite my own failings and weakness, His grace endures forever, it covers my sin, old habits and negative attitudes, which are never too far from the door. I am a sinner saved by God’s merciful grace through the sacrifice Christ made at the Cross.
Why do we so easily find ourselves consumed with the distractions and idols of our world? We deny God’s promises and blessings and choose things that can never bring fulfilment. Like the ancient people of Israel, we are quickly drawn away from faith to fads and futility. We forget so easily God’s provision and the purpose that we are here for.
If what you are doing today does not honour God and build His kingdom… why are you doing it?
A sobering question that beckons an honest answer.
See, I set before you today life and prosperity, death and destruction. For I command you today to love the Lord your God, to walk in obedience to him, and to keep his commands, decrees and laws; then you will live and increase, and the Lord your God will bless you in the land you are entering to possess.
But if your heart turns away and you are not obedient, and if you are drawn away to bow down to other gods and worship them, I declare to you this day that you will certainly be destroyed. You will not live long in the land you are crossing the Jordan to enter and possess. Deuteronomy 30:15-18
As you and I do our best to live lives worthy of our calling, let us be encouraged that we have been promised life and God’s blessings as we seek to serve Him.
That’s the good news.
Thanks for your prayers and interest in our ministry as we head into the second half of 2012.
