The Faithfulness of God in a fallen world.

I will praise you, Lord my God, with all my heart; I will glorify your name forever. For great is your love toward me; you have delivered me from the depths, from the realm of the dead. Arrogant foes are attacking me, O God; ruthless people are trying to kill me— they have no regard for you. But you, Lord, are a compassionate and gracious God, slow to anger, abounding in love and faithfulness. Psalm 86:12 -15

We are living in a world at war and catastrophe at the moment. A world where arrogant political leaders strive in their own abilities to bring calamity under control. It amazes me how faithful God is to people who have rejected Him and deny even His existence. My heart is burdened for the multitudes of people suffering under corrupt regimes and religious persecution. As churches burned to the ground in Ethiopia this past week and Christian villages were wiped out the media focussed on the civil war in Libya and protecting western oil interests. I can see violent times ahead as nations rage against each other. For most of us all we can do is watch and pray and support organisations on the front lines helping the helpless. Not much of it makes sense. Japan as a nation is crippled by aftershocks and fear of nuclear destruction. It is a troubled planet.

But I know that when our eyes are on the Lord He is faithful. Kerrie and I celebrate 30 years of making a covenant in marriage together back in 1981. She married a young man with an old pick up truck, a motorcycle, a guitar and a Bible. Not much else. But as we look back we see God’s faithfulness and providence over our lives. We are grateful for family and many friends who have been part of our story and journey. We want to say thanks.

I will praise you, Lord, among the nations; I will sing of you among the peoples. For great is your love, reaching to the heavens; your faithfulness reaches to the skies. Be exalted, O God, above the heavens; let your glory be over all the earth. Psalm 57: 9-11

He is faithful.

Godspeed,
